Sacramento City College is hosting six hours of presentations by 30 different guest speakers today. The theme of the Sac City Talks event is "The Next 100 Years of Progress."
Each speaker has eight minutes for a presentation.
Melisa Lasell is with the school's public relations department. According to her, some talks will focus on the college's history while others will present ideas for the school's future.
"It's a fantastic institution. It has a lot to offer in many, many, many ways," she says. "And we want to help the community get to know us."
It's a free event and will continue through 9 p.m.
This is the first "Sac City Talks" event. The school plans to hold another one next year.
