Shahla Farzan

Intern with The View From Here

Shahla Farzan is an intern at Capital Public Radio, working with Catherine Stifter and jesikah maria ross as part of The View from Here team. Shahla is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of California, Davis, where she studies the ecology of native bees. She first caught the radio bug as a world music show host for WMHC, the oldest college radio station in the country operated exclusively by women. As a graduate student, she worked as a contributing writer for the California Environmental Legacy Project, creators of the Emmy Award-winning documentary, “Becoming California.”

As she prepares to transition from academia into a career in public radio, Shahla is excited to learn the ins and outs of audio production in the bustling Cap Radio newsroom. When she’s not in the station, you can find Shahla combing through local flea markets and training her two lively parakeets.
