Raised 20 minutes away in Galt, California, Tony deeply connects with the Sacramento region. Having grown up in a Mexican immigrant family, he realizes the vital role of local news in providing communities direction to resources in times of need.
He is a proud Sacramento State alum. While on campus, Tony was the Editor-in-Chief of the university’s student news organization, The State Hornet, where he led over 60 student staff members. He edited and led news coverage, investigations, and all operations of the award-winning student digital publication.
As part of the inaugural group of UC Berkeley California Local News Fellows and the South Sacramento beat reporter, Tony brings comprehensive coverage to those considered “on the margin” in the community. He engages South Sacramento residents and brings clarity to issues they face.
