'Dark Sea Rising' Authors Share Science Fiction With Environmental Message

Barry Broad and Drew Mendelson's new book, "Dark Sea Rising," combines science fiction with an environmental message.

Authors Barry Broad and Drew Mendelson collaborated on their new novel, “Dark Sea Rising.” It’s a story of first contact with mysterious aliens at the bottom of the sea triggered by the explosion of a deep sea oil drilling platform. The creatures believe the oil fields underneath the ocean are sacred and they’ll defend them at any cost.
 
Barry Broad and Drew Mendelson are hosting an author event at the Barnes & Noble on Arden Way on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
