State health officials are warning people not to eat eggs from a Solano County farm which have been linked to a salmonella outbreak. The California Department of Public Health said as of Dec. 5, 63 people had been sickened after consuming eggs distributed by Vega Farms, including 13 hospitalizations.
The Dixon-based farm voluntarily recalled the in-shell eggs Dec. 5, CDPH wrote in a press release. Officials advise people not to eat, serve or sell the recalled eggs, which were distributed across the Sacramento region.
“Whole genome sequencing analysis revealed that the Salmonella in at least one sample matched the strain found in sick individuals,” wrote CDPH.
The recalled eggs were sold to:
- Sacramento Foods Co-op, 2820 R St., Sacramento
- Taylor’s Market, 2900 Freeport Blvd., Sacramento
- Davis Foods Co-op 620 G St., Davis
- Sage Market 201 Sage St., Davis
- Segundo Market, UC Davis
- Tercero Dining Commons, UC Davis
- UC Davis Cuarto Market

Officials say they are working with Vega Farms to eliminate salmonella and prevent future outbreaks.
