In honor of Disneyland’s 70th anniversary, Stage Nine Entertainment, located on the corner of Front and K Street in Old Sacramento, is inviting the community to join and celebrate the theme park's birthday on Thursday.
Stage Nine Entertainment is a store celebrating its 33rd year, offering a diverse selection of pop culture items from Disney, Marvel, and DC Comics. It’s a 10,000-square-foot retail space with a candy store and a toy store attached.
There’s also an underground Disney art gallery and a brand new speakeasy.
For Disneyland's birthday, Stage Nine Entertainment will showcase 70 pop-up artifacts from the last seven decades, available for purchase. The items will be located throughout the store and downstairs in The Underground Vault.
According to the CEO of Stage Nine Entertainment, Troy Carlson, the main floor will have items priced from $5 and up and underground, they’re going to have amazing items on display.
“We sell original artwork, but we also are known for our collection of original props from the parks, if it's Disneyland, Disney World, Tokyo’s Disneyland,” Carlson said. “We acquired a large collection of vintage attraction posters or maps of the parks.”
Carlson said what people love are artifacts from the parks that were there during Walt's time.

“We've got a microphone that Walt Disney gave a talk to,” he said. “We've got a door from the Monorail. We've got pieces from Pirates [of the Caribbean]. We've got things from the Haunted Mansion, so any attraction, we probably have something from it.”
To coincide with the Third Thursday event in Old Sacramento, the store will also offer free public tours of its speakeasy, Hawthorne’s Hideout, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m for the first 15 minutes of every hour.
Hawthorne’s Hideout is an interactive dining and drinking experience hidden inside of The Underground Vault. It’s available for private bookings up to 21 people and prices start just below $1,000.
The hideout is tiki-themed and has over 30 “easter eggs” that people can discover, according to Carlson.
“I thought, why don't we create a unique space that's hidden and a fictional character, Elias Hawthorne, who was born in Sacramento and traveled the world,” Carlson said. “This space is filled with his treasures when he traveled the world.”
The hideout is about 300-square-feet and Stage Nine Entertainment wanted it to be the most immersive experience. Carlson said the company thought of everything when creating the hideout, from theming and seating, to their bartender, Cornelius, who is the host.
To complement the theme and dining experience, Stage Nine created a fictional character from Sacramento, and the hideout is filled with antiques and artifacts inspired by his adventures.
Carlson said the more time you spend in Hawthrone’s hideout, the more you’ll learn about the space and the effects that happen.
“We've got a scavenger hunt, because you've got 30 pieces of iconic Hollywood history, park history, hidden in here that you can find,” he said. “There's even secret drinks in the room, so you just have to explore.”
Carlson said he hopes people come to the store to celebrate Disneyland's 70th birthday. The store is open daily from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
“We'd love to share with you a lot of the props and artifacts from the parks and let you take a peek in the hideout,” he said.
