Watch: Gov. Gavin Newsom Update On COVID-19 For June 30

Tuesday, June 30, 2020 | Sacramento, CA

COVID-19 cases continue to jump in California, and Gov. Gavin Newsom says the state will announce new restrictions Wednesday to address the spread.

"We bent the curve in the state of California once, we will bend the curve again — mark my words," Newsom said Tuesday.

Newsom has called California’s re-opening process a ‘dimmer switch’ that will be adjusted as cases increase or decrease

The state reported over 6,000 new cases Monday. However, the Los Angeles Times’ tracker showed more than 8,000 new cases, a single-day record in California.

More testing is not the only reason for the increase. Hospitalizations spiked by more than 40% the past two weeks and the number of ICU patients increased over 30%.

Watch Newsom's full remarks above.
