Containment Grows For Twist Fire

UPDATE July 31, 7:20  P.M.: CAL FIRE says the Twist Fire in Tuolumne County is now 60 percent contained.

The agency has also reduced the estimated size of the fire to 123 acres based on new mapping.


UPDATE July 31, 5  P.M.: Containment for the Twist Fire has grown, but evacuation orders and advisories are still in place. 

Officials report that the Twist Fire in Tuolumne County is holding steady at 180 acres and is now 50 percent contained. 


UPDATE July 31, 2017, 7:05 A.M.: CAL FIRE says the Twist Fire in Tuolumne County is now at 180 acres and is 15 percent contained. Evacuations are still in place for the areas of Algerine Road from Wards Ferry to Twist Road and Old Wards Ferry to Richards Ranch Road. 

The Mother Lode Fairgrounds in Tuolumne County in Sonora has been opened as a shelter. Animals are allowed. Some structures are threatened in the Hog Mountain area. 


ORIGINAL: A wildfire in Tuolumne County has prompted evacuations Sunday evening. 

Officials say the Twist Fire is now 150 acres and some structures are being threatened in the Hog Mountain area.
