(AP) — Tesla Motors has selected Nevada for a massive, $5 billion factory to build batteries for a new generation of electric cars. A person with familiar with Tesla's plans says the site near Reno beat out four other states, including California, which were vying for the project.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity because no official announcement has been made.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has scheduled a press confernece for Thursday afternoon, at which the Tesla announcement is expected to be made official.
