The French Fire burning in Sierra National Forest is now 40 percent contained.
The blaze has scorched some 13,717 acres in the Sierra National Forest near the San Joaquin River.
Investigators say the wildfire was sparked by an abandoned campfire.
Residents in the Arnold Meadow community were notified to evacuate.
