The first eastbound phase of the Fix 50 project in Sacramento is finished. That included resurfacing and repairing the three inside eastbound lanes.
Dennis Keaton is with CalTrans. He says crews are now focused on the eastbound outside lanes.
"They're ongoing with the demolition work that they've done," says Keaton. "Basically knocking down the outside barriers to the lane, so everything looks to be on schedule."
This second phase involves different closures, including the 11th and 16th street on-ramps, and the eastbound 50- connectors to southbound 99 and eastbound business 80.
Keaton says so far, drivers seem to be getting the message about taking alternate routes or public transit.
He says crews are also starting to prepare the westbound lanes for work. That phase of the project will start after Memorial Day.
