Single Survivor Found In Plane Crash Near Truckee

Monday, March 3, 2014 | Sacramento, CA

Placer County sheriff's Capt. Jeff Ausnow says the exact condition of the survivor was unknown, and it was unclear whether anyone else had been on the plane when it crashed Monday.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Allen Kenitzer described the aircraft as a Piper PA-46 Malibu. Ausnow says it went down near Martis Peak in a rugged area about six miles southeast of the airport.

It was unknown why the plane crashed or where it was headed.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
