Post-June High School Graduates Get Own Ceremony

  •  Steve Milne
Monday, November 4, 2013 | Sacramento, CA

Gabe Ross is with the Sacramento City Unified School District, which is holding the ceremony.

"These kids deserve the same pomp and circumstance as their classmates who graduated in the spring."

Ross says the district is one of the few in the area to honor post-June graduates with their own ceremony.

"Too often we only celebrate those who go take the normal route and I think it's real important with this event that we focus on the kids who persevere and kids who work their tails off over the summer through credit recovery programs to make sure that they walk and they graduate and they get their diploma."

The ceremony be held tonight at district offices on Lemon Hill Avenue, and it'll include ROTC color guard, speakers and traditional caps and gowns.
