Watt Avenue Road Closures Cancelled

  •  Steve Milne
Wednesday, October 30, 2013 | Sacramento, CA

Update: 8:15 p.m. - Road Closures Cancelled

CalTrans has tweeted that the road closures have been cancelled.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Original Story: 11:15 a.m.

Three consecutive nights of overnight lane and ramp closures begin tonight because of construction work.

It's part of Sacramento County's $22.5 million project to redesign the interchange at Watt Avenue and Highway 50.

John Jaeger, senior civil engineer with the project, says crews will be doing what's known as "releasing false-work."

"The falsework that's going to be released over the next two nights is the supporting elements while the bridge is being constructed. And now that the new bridge structure over Highway 50 is essentially complete, that falsework can be released from the concrete bridge above."

Tonight eastbound 50 will be restricted to one lane at times. Tomorrow night it'll be westbound 50. And on Friday night the eastbound 50 off-ramp to southbound Watt will be closed. Overnight construction work on all three nights goes from 10 PM to 5 AM.
