Kai Arellano is currently a part of the CapRadio and ASI Public Radio Experience Internship. He’s a recent graduate from Sac State and is pursuing his career in journalism. He also is a coach for the youth at Flawless Boxing & Fitness and has a passion for combat sports and baseball.
Coming from Pleasant Hill, California, he learned to love journalism while in high school at College Park, doing the sports report for the school. After graduating he played baseball and studied journalism in Pittsburg, California at Los Medanos College spending three years before transferring to Sacramento State in 2023. He worked with the State Hornet in 2024 winning an award for his broadcast feature story for his coverage of Latin Heritage Month at the New Orleans 2024 Fall National College Media Convention. Shortly after, he became the Visuals Editor and worked on overseeing the management of photographs, thumbnails, and other visual elements. He finally graduated this past spring with his bachelors in journalism and communications.
Even though he just started working with CapRadio, he’s already produced and written stories for the station. Kai hopes to continue his work for the station and continue his journalism career.
