And a note: they talked on Monday morning, August 5, just after President Donald Trump had addressed the nation, and before the death toll in the El Paso mass shooting — at a busy Walmart — had ticked up. That death toll now stands at at least 22, from Saturday morning’s massacre. In addition, at least nine people were gunned down in a shooting in a popular nightlife area in Dayton early Sunday morning. The other main topic of this month’s podcast is the recent 2020 Democratic candidate debates, which took place last week in Detroit.
