A team of volunteers from the Casa de Espanol school in Sacramento is headed to Mexico to deliver rescue equipment to areas hit hard by earthquakes.
The team is gathering ropes, goggles, gloves, harnesses and helmets. Organizers plan to begin packing the equipment at 8:30 p.m. and say they will leave for Mexico at midnight.
A 7.1 quake hit Tuesday southeast of Mexico City. An 8.2 magnitude quake in the southern part of the country hit Sept. 7.
Casa de Espanol teaches Spanish to adults and children at its school at 11th and R Streets in Sacramento.
