There are lots of great options for Veteran's day celebrations in the Sacramento region this year. So call your favorite service member and pick an event to honor their sacrifice for our country.
16th Annual Folsom Veterans Day Parade, 9 a.m.
Presented by the Folsom Parks and Recreation department the parade, the parade starts at E. Bidwell St. and Montrose Dr. A short ceremony will be held after the parade in the Folsom City Lions Park at the Veterans' Memorial, near the flagpole.
Rancho Cordova 11th Annual Veterans Day Ceremony, 9:30 a.m.
Centered around the theme of "We Build - We Fight," remembering veterans and honoring the missions of the US Naval Construction Forces (Seabees). The ceremony takes place at the Sacramento VA Medical Center in Mather, Calif.
Davis Veterans Day Ceremony, 10:30 a.m.-noon
A performance by the Davis High Madrigal Singers as a special tribute to the men and women of America's armed services will take place at the Davis Cemetery and Arboretum. Boy scouts will pay tribute to fallen veterans by placing flags on their graves before the ceremony.
City Of Sacramento's 6th Annual Veterans Day Parade, 11 a.m.
The parade takes place on the Capitol Mall Greens at 1300 7th Street. The theme this year is "Honoring All Who Served – Always Remember Their Sacrifice.” The Veterans Day Parade is comprised of veterans, military organizations, high school marching bands, vintage military vehicles, car clubs, trade unions and community organizations such as the Boy and Girl Scouts.
Sacramento Zoo Military Family Day, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
In appreciation of America's troops and all military personnel, veterans and their families will get half-off admission to the zoo with valid military ID card.
California State Railroad Museum Honors Veterans, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
The Railroad Museum is offering free admission to active military personelle and veterans all Veterans Day. Patriotic music will be playing on the trains and service members are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
15th annual Elk Grove Veterans Day Parade and Salute, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.
The ceremonies will begin promptly at 10 a.m. at the Elk Grove Shopping Center on Elk Grove Florin Road. The 15th annual parade will begin down the same road toward the Elk Grove Regional Park at 11 a.m. Streets around the area will be closed from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
