UPDATE: 3:55 p.m.
Original Story: Sacramento Unified School District reports a teacher at C. K. McClatchy is on paid administrative leave after students reported him wrestling with a student on the floor of his classroom during first period.
Gabe Ross with the Sacramento Unified School District says 58-year-old David Fritz was in a halloween costume when he became involved in the altercation.
"School administration became aware of it when students shared cell phone video -that they had taken in the class of the situation unfolding- with administration. So, we applaud the students who shared the information. They did the right thing by seeing something that was clearly wrong and inappropriate and sharing it immediately with the school administration."
The district called the incident "alarming" and "unacceptable."
The Sacramento Police Department says Fritz was booked for the misdemeanor charge of willful cruelty to a child.
Parents were informed of the incident through an automated phone message.
