9 a.m. - Cal Fire says the Jerusalem Fire that started Sunday in Lake County doubled in size overnight. It now stands at 12,000 acres.

The new fire is in dense brush and steep terrain. It's burning a few miles away from the Rocky Fire, which is 88 percent contained.

Cal Fire's Mike Yeun says so far, the Jerusalem Fire has not mixed with the Rocky Fire.

"There's always some potential that it could meet up with the Rocky Fire," he says. "But we have crews on scene that (are) going to try and contain it as best they can and minimize the acreage that has burned."

More than 1,100 firefighters are battling the Jerusalem Fire. Yen says cooler than normal temperatures Tuesday will help.

8:30 a.m. - Cal Fire officials say they're hoping cooler-than-normal weather Tuesday  will help them battle the Jerusalem Fire in Lake County, which doubled in size overnight and is now at 12,000 acres.

"The weather should be good," says Mike Yuen, with Cal Fire. "It shouldn't be as hot or as dry as it will be this weekend. So we're going to try to make some good progress today.

He says more than 1,100 firefighters are battling the blaze. Many of them are tired.

"Some of the challenges that are facing the firefighters right now is fatigue," he says. "A lot of them have been out on the line fighting the Rocky Fire. And they've no come over from the Rocky Fire to the Jerusalem Fire. So a lot of it is just getting them enough rest."

Yeun says personnel from other areas will join the battle against the Jerusalem Fire Tuesday.

7 a.m. - The Jerusalem Fire burning in Lake County doubled in size overnight. It's now 12,000 acres.

It's burning a few miles south of the "Rocky Fire." But Cal Fire's Mike Yeun says the two fires have not merged yet.

"There's always some potential that it could meet up with the Rocky Fire," says Yeun. "But we have crews on scene that (are) going to try and contain it as best they can and minimize the acreage that has burned.

More than 1,100 firefighters are on the scene. Yen says firefighters are hoping cooler than normal temperatures Tuesday will help.

6:45 a.m. The Jerusalem Fire burning in Lake County has grown to 12,000 acres.

Jerusalem Valley Road is closed to all traffic at Spruce Grove Road.
An evacuation center has been set up at Middletown High School.

Cal Fire has ordered evacuations and diverted firefighters and air tankers from the nearby Rocky Fire, which is 88 percent contained and is holding at 69,636 acres.
