Tuesday, about 400 parking meters in the City of Sacramento will give you the choice to pay using your cell phone.
The City of Sacramento has struck a deal with a private company called Parkmobile.
According to Matt Winkler with the City of Sacramento, you can register your phone, car, and credit card on the company's app or website.
"Walking away from the meter you can pay the actual meter, if it's raining outside, or if you want to extend your parking session -you paid for one hour and you want to extend it to another hour and make it two hours- you're able to actually add on time on to that meter if you need to up to the time limit posted on the street," says Winkler.
"Park Mobile" charges 35 cents per use. You can continue to pay with change, debit, and credit cards with no added fee.
The meters have bright green stickers on them and are around City Hall, Cesar Chavez Park and in Old Sacramento.
The city plans to make the option available at all 4,000 city meters within a couple of months.
