Dense Fog Advisory In Effect For Sacramento Valley

A dense fog advisory is in effect in the Sacramento Valley Monday morning until 11 a.m.

Courtney Obergfell with the National Weather Service in Sacramento says the worst of the fog is being experienced in the Sacramento area and south-- in Modesto and Stockton.  The most dense fog is expected from sunrise through the mid morning.

Visibility was reduced to about a quarter of a mile or less in Sacramento through Fresno.

"So use caution if you're commuting into work this morning," says Obergfell.

As of 7:30 a.m., a number of traffic accidents have been reported due to the foggy conditions.

"Fog this time of year is pretty typical for the area and you get the right conditions-- clear skies and you do have some lingering moisture available-- we do see fog form in the Valley," says Obergfell.

The weather service says there may be some rain this weekend.

Obergfell says this coming storm looks like a mild one, though, with snow levels expected around 5,000 to 6,000 feet.

Visibility remains at a 1/4 mi or less from Sacramento to Fresno due to fog. Use caution when commuting to work this morning! #cawx
