Resources: Tips On Wildfire Preparedness and Response

With nearly a dozen major wildfires currently burning in California, officials say now is the time to think about being prepared.

Before a wildfire strikes, officials say it's important to have an action plan. 

Cal Fire has a brochure listing what actions families should take before an incident.

If an immediate evacuation is necessary, residents should remember the six "P's" -- people and pets, documents, prescriptions, pictures, personal computer and plastic (credit cards, etc).

Insurance company State Farm has also relased this infographic showing how to create a home inventory.

This week, a fast moving fire also swept through the town of Weed, California. Some 150 structures, including homes, were damaged. 

Local organizations say they are accepting donations for residents affected by the fire. Below is a list of groups collecting donations.

HOW TO HELP THOSE IMPACTED BY THE BOLES FIRE:

  • American Red Cross of Northeastern California
  • Siskiyou County Sheriff's Department- Will post volunteer information
  • Shasta Regional Community Foundation - Community Disaster Relief Fund
