Thanksgiving is less than three weeks away and central valley and foothill area food banks are looking for donations to put a holiday dinner on the table for thousands of families.
Turkeys R Us works with Second Harvest Food Bank to provide 21 non-profits with food.
LeAnne McNabb of Turkeys R Us said the need has increased since the organization started 16 years ago.
"We gave away 50 turkeys, reality is we need to give around 2,000 turkeys so the need is still very great around here," McNabb explained.
Jeannie Hayward heads the Resource Connection Food Bank in Calaveras County.
This year the food bank will give families extra food for Thanksgiving, but she said turkeys will be saved for a big giveaway at Christmas.
"We will distribute food to about 1,300 families along with toys for the children, coats and jackets for the youth for Christmas," said Hayward.
Hayward said many churches and non-profits are stepping up and serving Thanksgiving dinner to needy families.
