A 50-acre fire destroyed one home and several outbuildings near Union Mine High School in Eldorado County this afternoon. Cal Fire says it does not have a cause for the fire, but that a mix of pine trees and dry grasslands allowed it move quickly.
The Eldorado County Sheriff’s Department issued an advisory evacuation notice for the Lake Hills Mobile Home Park. Evacuees are to go to the Diamond Springs Hall in Diamond Springs.
Updated: 3:17 p.m. - From the Cal Fire Facebook page:
Firefighters are battling a 10 acre fire off Koki Ln and Pleasant Valley Rd, near the community of El Dorado (El Dorado County). #UnionFire
It went from Union Mine High school to Patterson Rd. area. It's roughly 45-50 acres. They have a handle on it and they've sent the air tankers back to Grass Valley. Two helicopters and a multitude of engines and firefighters still on it. At least a couple structures burned and one they can't get to because of downed power lines. Evacuation orders changed to "voluntary" for people in the Lake??? Mobile Home Park.
