Seventy-five homes are under voluntary evacuation orders in the Smith Valley area east of Carson City because of the Bison fire which reversed course yesterday. But firefighters have held the line on a ridge above the homes today.
Elayn Briggs with Sierra Front Interagency Fire Dispatch says the weather brings new concerns this afternoon.
“There are parts of the Sierra Front that are under a red flag warning today which are strong, gusty erratic winds that are possible and there are the possibility of thunderstorms which can in addition bring strong, gusty and erratic winds to the fire," says Briggs.
Briggs says the fire has not grown significantly in the past 24 hours, but it did shift directions.
The fire is 65 per cent contained, with full containment expected Sunday.
