South Lake Tahoe 'Kings Fire' Now Contained

Yubanet.com reports the Kings Fire, which was located 1/2 mile below Dagget Summit, Kingsbury Grade, SR207. is fully contained.

 

Douglas County fire dispatchers say they got a call about 3:00 this afternoon of a fire about a mile from the Kingsbury Summit near Nevada State Route 207.

The fire covered about three acres at last report (about 4:00 p.m. Wednesday), but it is growing rapidly.

The grade has been closed from the summit to the Carson Valley floor as firefighters try to limit the spread of the fire.

The Kings Fire started just before 3pm Wednesday about a 1/2 mile below Dagget Summit on the east side.

At this time, the fire is approximately 10-15 acres. The wind is blowing about 40-50 mph.

Aircraft is grounded for now due to extremely high winds of 50+ mph. Forest Service and East Fork Fire Protection District personnel responding.

No structures are threatened.

Nevada Highway Patrol has been called to close Kingsbury Grade from the summit to the valley floor.

People are also being asked to stay away from State Route 207. SR 207 is CLOSED from Tramway Drive to Foothill Road to motor vehicles until further notice.
