Kris Hooks Joins CapRadio as a News Editor

Sacramento, CA – August 5, 2020: Capital Public Radio (CapRadio) welcomes Kris Hooks to the newsroom as its new News Editor.

Prior to joining CapRadio, Hooks worked as a senior digital editor in Sacramento, overseeing abc10.com content and developing the KXTV-ABC10 daily newsletter. He also has experience as a  freelance writer focusing on race, culture and education for the local alt-weekly Sacramento News & Review and a digital content producer at KTXL-FOX40.

“Kris holds a deep passion for Sacramento, its history and news culture, and he will be a tremendous asset to the newsroom,” said Nick Miller, CapRadio’s managing editor of news. “He’ll be working closely with reporters and listening deeply to our audience, and I’m excited to watch him lead our team during this historic moment and beyond.”

As a news editor, Hooks will help oversee daily content creation, working with broadcast and digital teams on planning and editing, and collaborating with reporters to help them bring focus to their work. He’ll also be doing some reporting of his own and overseeing the occasional special project. Hooks will be joined by a number of new additions to the news and programming teams at CapRadio, bringing a variety of fresh perspectives to its coverage.
