Doctor Dean Blumberg with the UC Davis Medical School says the 14 measles cases reported in California have been linked to international travel. He says vaccination could have made a difference in many of them.
“Eight out of those 14 were unvaccinated,” says Blumberg. “Seven of those eight were not vaccinated by choice. One was less than a year of age and we don’t recommend vaccine at less than a year of age.”
A paralysis causing disease similar to polio is baffling California medical investigators. Five such cases have been reported.
And reports of a severe flu continue to come in state-wide. That virus has killed more than 200 Californians.
