The Lincoln Project has some high profile advisors. At the top of the list is the husband of President Trump’s counselor, Kellyanne Conway, attorney George Conway. The group’s mission, according to its website, is to “defeat President Trump and Trumpism at the ballot box.” Their inspiration, they say, is President Abraham Lincoln.

Other high profile advisors include political strategist Steve Schmidt, known for his work with President George W. Bush, the late Sen. John McCain and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, media consultant Rick Wilson, author of “Running Against the Devil,” out tomorrow, and today’s guest, Mike Madrid.

Trying to unseat an incumbent from inside a party isn’t common. The last significant attempt was Republican Pat Buchanan’s challenge to President George H. W. Bush. It is believed to have weakened Bush, who lost in 1992 to Democrat Bill Clinton. But, The Lincoln Project isn’t a person, it’s a political action committee. So, how likely is this effort to succeed?
