We capped off our inaugural Student Musician Showcase Week with a string quartet from the Sacramento Youth Symphony whose members are all from the Luong family.

They include Brandon and Connor, ages 16 and 14, on violins, Olivia, 12, on cello and Isabella, 9, on viola.

Isabella Luong, 9, plays the viola.Vanessa S. Nelson / Capital Public Radio

Introduced to classical music by their father, the Luong children practice and play together as well as on their own. Each are at different stages in their musical careers, but they all expressed an appreciation for the role classical music plays in their lives.
