Hundreds of people visited the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton on Thursday for the annual Farm-to-Fork event.
Stockton sits in the center of the best farm harvest in the world, from melons to cherries, corn to strawberries.
State Senator Cathleen Galgiani and the San Joaquin County Public Health Department sponsored "Farm to Fork" to educate families about the importance of eating fruits and vegetables and avoiding obesity.
"When we're raising small children in our household it's a benefit for them to understand what they can do to make sure their families are eating healthier," says Galgiani.
Student chef 17-year-old Victoria Tith gave a demonstration on making meals that do more than just taste good.
"If I'm getting benefit from fruits and vegetables that's also a bonus," says Tith.
Organizers also put out samples of some of the best local produce found in the San Joaquin Valley.
