Reinventing Childhood

In a special show, Innovation Hub looks at the reinvention of childhood. We investigate what science now teaches us about how kids learn – and how technology might be rewiring young brains.

Plus, we look at how parental behavior has evolved, molding children in entirely new ways. Guests will include historian UC Berkeley historian Paula Fass and University of Virginia psychologist Daniel Willingham, among others.

Three things to know:

Being bored is actually good for kids. At least, according to UVA’s Daniel Willingham. Finally, parents everywhere are vindicated.

Looking to raise independent children? Paula Fass, Professor Emerita at UC Berkeley, suggests the good ‘ole Ulysses S. Grant treatment.

Put down that worksheet and put on that dashiki! Ian Bremmer thinks it’s time to start learning cultures, not languages.
