One State, Unaffordable

This 725-square-foot home in Los Angeles recently sold for more than $700,000.

The median price for a home in California has topped the $600,000 mark for the first time ever, and rents are exploding in cities across the state.

It's an affordable housing crisis that has strengthened calls for rent control, driven up rates of homelessness and forced migration out of the Bay Area, where the median home price is above $1 million in five of the area's nine counties.

In this special hosted by CapRadio's Randol White, we discuss how the cost of living here is making the California Dream more and more difficult to achieve.

A part of our California Dream media collaboration, the show will feature reporters and experts answering audience-submitted questions about making a life in the Golden State.
