7/25/2019 Bear Valley Music Festival Orchestra Bear Valley Music Festival Maestro Michael Morgan opens the symphonic portion of the Festival with a brand new work titled “Bear Valley Suite for Orchestra” by Bay Area composer Michael Taylor. 7/25/2019 Elk Grove Strauss Festival Elk Grove The Queen Mother hosts a grand ball inviting royal families from the kingdom to find a “real” princess for her prince. The Strauss dancers will waltz and polka to beautiful live music, in gorgeous costumes, on a stage set for the royal search. 7:30pm Promenade, performance 8:15pm. 7/26/2019 Bear Valley Orchestra + Olga Kern & Vladislav Kern Bear Valley Music Festival The Bear Valley Orchestra performs Mozart’s Double Piano Concerto with legendary pianist Olga Kern and her son Vladislav. 7/31/2019 Bear Valley Orchestra Bear Valley Music Festival "Concerto Night." Celebrating her third season as concertmaster, Jolan Friedhoff is joined by the Bear Valley orchestra’s newest member and principal viola Edward Wharton in Mozart’s Sinfonia Concertante. Principal bassoon Melanie Sanguinetti is the featured soloist in the Concertino Suite by Wolf-Ferrari. 10/13/2019 Alexander String Quartet Mondavi Center Returning for their 18th consecutive Mondavi Center Season, the Alexander String Quartet complete the second of two seasons exploring the complete string quartets of Shostakovich. 10/19/2019 Reno Chamber Orchestra Nightingale Concert Hall, Reno Reno native Maestro Donato Cabrera opens the season with Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony. Violinist Helen Kim, also raised in Reno, performs the West Coast premiere of the Chamber Concerto for Violin by her husband, critically-acclaimed composer Samuel Adams. Wagner’s complex symphonic poem Siegfried Idyll, a present for his wife Cosima, opens the performance. 7:30pm. (Pre-concert talk 6:45pm).
