San Joaquin Regional Transit District is rolling out a new program to make it easier and cheaper for people to find transportation outside of Stockton. Uber and RTD are partnering up to give discounted rides.
It’s been tough for people to find public transportation from Lodi to Stockton, or from Stockton to Tracy…but now comes RTD GO.
Riders can now use Uber to take them from city to city in San Joaquin County.
Terry Williams with Regional Transit says part of the trip will be subsidized by RTD.
“Passengers being able to save up to 50 percent with a maximum of $5 off per ride if their trip originates or ends outside the normal RTD service area,” says Williams.
Williams also says passengers in Stockton and other cities can also use Uber to take them to any of the eight transit stations located in Tracy, Manteca, Lodi, and Stockton.
He says the Uber phone app will automatically register the discount.
