Members of five fire departments from the Sacramento region are in San Diego fighting the Border Fire.

Chris Harvey with the Sacramento Fire Department says the strike team is one of many on-call with the California Office of Emergency Services (OES).

"There is a strike team composed of five engines from Sacramento Fire, Sacramento Metro Fire, Cosumnes Fire, Folsom Fire and West Sacramento Fire. When Cal OES summons those engines, they basically call us up and say, look, we need that type-three strike team. Those agencies will all assemble it at one point and head to where the fire is."

According to Cal OES, there are 29 strike teams, 372 engines and 1207 firefighters that are part of the agency's mutual aid program and are fighting fires across California.
