Original Post: Officials are warning motorists of a slow commute on northbound Interstate 5 in South Sacramento after two big rig crashes early Monday.

The first occurred just south of Sutterville Road at about 3 a.m. The crash shut down lanes on both sides of the freeway. Initial reports indicate that a big rig hit the median and one person was transported to an area hospital.

The second crash is located just south of 43rd Avenue involving several vehicles including a van, a car and a big rig.

The first crash is similar to a fatal one that occurred Dec. 10 involving a FedEx truck.
