The first stage of the Amgen Tour of California men's bicycle race begins Sunday morning at the State Capitol in Sacramento. But, some city streets will be closed Friday.

Sacramento Police Department Sergeant Doug Morse says 10th Street between L and N Streets will be closed Friday morning.

"We're going to be setting up. We're going to be obviously getting parking and the vendors are going to be coming in for the event," says Mose. "So, that's the first closure you're gonna see. May 9th at 6 a.m. -that's where a few more closures happen on Capitol Mall -8th Street to 9th Street and L Street from 9th Street to 12th Street."

An additional block of 10th Street -to K Street- will also be closed Saturday.

The race route from 3rd Street to 19th Street will be closed all day Sunday.
