American troops begin military exercises in Eastern Europe today, to send a message about the United States’ commitment to security in the region.
Tensions remain high between the governments in Kiev and Moscow, with Russia conducting its own military drills on the Ukrainian border.
NPR’s Eleanor Beardsley is on the ground in Ukraine and joins Here & Now’s Robin Young to discuss local reaction to the latest developments.
