The flute is one of the oldest instruments in the world. There are relics made of bird bone and mammoth ivory dating as far back as 40,000 years ago. Dr. Brittany Trotter is propelling the instrument forward in time with all sorts of creative "new" uses and soundscapes. For example, did you know you can use the flute to beatbox? It also make a lovely contributor to sonic worlds involving electronics!
In this feature we enjoy recordings of several creative uses of the flute. We also enjoy recordings of Dr. Trotter's classical background and get to know her passion for education as well.
