Rachel Barton Pine is a world reknown violinist and often stops by the Insight Studio to give us a little taste of her music and updates us on her life.
In April, Pine talked about touring with her family and recording her first no. 1 billboard album, an album of lullabies.
"I'm very blessed, my husband is still traveling with me 100% of the time," Pine explains. "We have a wonderful nanny from the agency of 'Nanny's For Traveling Musicians'... she lives with us and comes on the road with us."
This allows Pine to stay near her daughter even while working. Pine said her daughter has become familiar with her own violin and will probably start formal lessons soon.
And it was her daughter who inspired the album of Violin Lullabies.
"It must have struck a chord with parents all over," Pine says. "That was really exciting that something that I just did from the heart for my own daughter - became something that so many families can enjoy."
Pine was in town visiting with students and playing a concert with the Davis Highschool Baroque Ensemble.
"It's so fun hearing what's on their minds," Pine said about working with the young muscians. "One kid asked if I ever made a mistake... it really gets into something that's beyond music, in life you have to take risks and if something doesn't go quite right you have to move right past it and focus on the positive... so i talked about performing and nothing is ever totally perfect - so you have to play up the things that are going really well and whatever little flaws there are you just ignore them."
