Sacramento’s R&B music festival, Sol Blume and its founder are being sued for not repaying an advance of over a million dollars. A lawsuit was filed in Sacramento Superior Court in March by their former ticket partner Lyte.
The lawsuit alleges that Lyte Inc. advanced $1,500,000 to Sol Blume, LLC, to sell tickets for their event, but the festival and its founder, Fornati Kumeh, have failed to repay the advance.
Lyte Inc., which is now under liquidation, alleges Sol Blume and Fornati breached a written contract. The liquidation also seeks repayment for court costs and attorney fees plus 10% from December 8, 2023, to the date of judgment.
As a result of the breached contract, Lyte issued a “demand repayment” to Sol Blume, but the festival has failed to meet their demands.
Sol Blume was set to take place from May 3 to 5, 2024, but was postponed to August 2025 due to unsafe conditions at its venue, Discovery Park.
The lineup featured artists SZA, Snoh Aalegra, and the duo of Aminé and Kaytranada (Kaytraminé) as headliners.
Since the postponement a year ago, there has been no significant update on whether the festival will return this year, and festival goers who have bought tickets are skeptical of its return.
In an interview with CapRadio in April, Jakara Rogers said she purchased tickets to Sol Blume but has since attempted to get a refund.
She tried to file a dispute with her bank, but since the dispute deadline had passed, she would only be able to get her money back through Sol Blume.
“I just really want my money back, and I don't know what else to do. I don't see any other avenues other than someone eventually filing a class-action lawsuit. I just don't know what method of recourse we have in this kind of situation.”
The Sol Blume website continues to display the message “coming soon,” and their emails are also being returned.
Fornati Kumeh did not respond to requests for comment.
