UPDATE 6:44 p.m. -- Strong thunderstorms in northern California and northwest Nevada have triggered a series of severe weather alerts from the National Weather Service Wednesday afternoon.
NWS Reno and NWS Sacramento have both warned of flash flood risk as the storms generate hail and wind in excess of 50 mph in some areas.
NWS Reno warned earlier Wednesday that thunderstorm activity would pose a risk of flash flooding through the weekend.

Original Post: The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning in the Truckee Area, with hail and high winds affecting Interstate 80.
As of 3:52 p.m. NWS was reporting the storm was nearly stationary near Truckee.
