The Sacramento Kings are another step closer to operating the Sacramento Convention Center, Memorial Auditorium, and Community Center Theater.
A group led by the Kings was the highest-rated out of three groups that submitted proposals to operate the three landmarks.
Desmond Parrington is Project Manager with the city manager's office.
He says the city council will now vote to hire a firm to negotiate with the Kings.
"It's really a decision to move forward with the highest-ranked group and see if we could come to terms and reach some of the goals that we've discussed with council about increasing utilization of those three facilities, increasing revenues and then looking at ways of improving efficiencies," says Parrington.
The Kings' group includes operator SMG, and concert producer Live Nation.
The City Council vote would allow the city to spend $185,000 to come to an agreement with the group.
The City of Sacramento's Department of Convention and Cultural Services and a group that included Spectra and the Auburn Indian Community also made proposals to operate the three facilities.
