Four Chinese High School Students Will Perform With Sacramento Youth Symphony

Four Chinese high school students will perform with the Sacramento Youth Symphony Saturday night.

Yuanming Jing plays the viola and is having a blast visiting the United States.

"I can not only learn something about the music, but also I can have very fun, I make new friends and I can try the life in Sacramento," says Jing.

Earlier this year, he and three violinists from Jinan China were selected to come to the U.S. as part of the Jinan Sacramento Sister Cities program.

Susan Lamb Cook is Director of the Summer Chamber Workshop for the Sacramento Youth Symphony. She says the Chinese students have been practicing with the symphony this week, but have been practicing the same music for some time at home.

"When they arrive, they just jump right into our program," says Lamb Cook. "They've had the music. We do send them the music ahead of time and we expect them to practice it so they will be ready the first day of the program."

Saturday evening, the symphony's chamber music soiree and chamber music festival concert will begin at six in Capistrano Hall on the Sacramento State campus.
