The Roseville Police Department is warning people about a new phone scam.

Scammers identify themselves as employees of the "Georgia Disconnection Department" soliciting payments then threaten residents with utility service disconnection.

Scammers might also identify themselves as Roseville utility service representatives, PG&E, SMUD or other any other utility service.

The Roseville Police department is also warning people not to let in anyone claiming to be from one of the utility departments if they look suspicious.

According to the Roseville Police Department, there is a lengthy process to warn customers about delinquent bills. The disconnecting of power or other utilities should never come as a surprise.

Anyone tricked by the scammers is urged to report the incident to the Roseville Police Department.
