The National Weather Service is advising residents to keep cool through Tuesday.
It's expected to be 98 degrees in Sacramento Monday, up two degrees from Sunday's high of 96.
"This is the first really pretty good stretch of heat we've seen this year," says Courtney Obergfell is a meteorologist with the weather service in Sacramento. "So, just make sure you stay hydrated and try to stay inside during the hottest parts of the day. If you need to be outside do it early morning or late evening."
She says it'll be hot again Tuesday, then back into the 80s Wednesday and Thursday and then maybe down into the 70s by Friday.
