UPDATE 3/4/2017 2:16 p.m.: The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch effective Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon for some areas along the southern San Joaquin River.

The agency says elevated releases from local dams are causing the river to swell, with high water levels causing some flooding in low lying areas north of Grayson into the south delta.

San Joaquin County officials and NWS warn that levee conditions remain a concern, and are asking residents to be ready to act quickly should conditions deteriorate.
