Work has begun on a second boil on the Sacramento River near the Verona Boat Ramp.
Department of Water Resources crews and contractors have been on site clearing brush to make way for heavy equipment.
Large rolls of black plastic were also at the ready to cover the levee and prevent further erosion.
Chuck Smith, public information officer for Sutter County, says the new boil is about a mile down Garden Highway from another levee boil.
"This location is where the Sacramento River meets the Feather River and this levee historically has seepage issues when the Sacramento River runs high for any great length of time as it has this year," Smith says.
Last week, a reclamation district discovered the first boil in the area. This week, crews covered the east side of the levee at the other boil site with large rocks to prevent erosion.
